Going green is a choice and a way of life. Step-by-step we all move towards being more environmentally conscious neighbors. Here is the next step: You recycle everything you can right? Now you have an opportunity to buy clothing, shoes and accessories made from recycled material, or directly recycled clothing. Do you know where you can get great deals on these green products? Hopefully this will help you find them! 'New' Recycled Clothing: If you are looking for new clothing, made from recycled materials, to purchase in the Denver or Boulder area, here are some very innovative stops to add to your list. A small shop named English Retreads sells accessories and clothing items for men and women made from recycled inner tubes. The store is located at 4949 N Broadway, Suite #147 Boulder, Colorado and there phone number is 303-258-1625. They are also reachable on the web at EnglishRetreads.com. The purses are really well designed and look great when worn, they range in price from $45 - $209. Though the more expensive bags are really large and could be used as overnight bags instead. Mesa Trail Gear Inc. located at 1524 North Street in Boulder, Colorado specializes in jerseys for hiking and biking that are made out of recycled fibers. There web site says that about 10 of the plastic water bottles you recycled last year are what they will make a jersey out of this year. Bothe the 'Mesa Jersey' and 'Cross Trainer' designs have removable sleeves, and a little zipper pouch to put them in, and costs $39.00 If looking for accessories, Baggy Shirts creates purses/tote bags from old recycled shirts. There is no waste from the shirt material - they use it all, and the price is really good. They have 6 products that range from $8.50 for a water bottle bag to $82.50 for a large quilted bag. Want some Recycled Shoes? Looking for shoes available for purchase locally? Then you are looking for Ecosneaks. This brand makes good shoes from recycled materials. They are available at REI for around $60.00 (average for shoes). REI has one Boulder location at 1789 28th St Boulder, CO 80301 (303) 583-9970. REI has one Denver location at 1416 Platte St Denver, CO 80202 (303) 756-3100. There are also locations for REI in Lakewood, Englewood, and Westminster, or you can buy them on line. On the internet you can purchase a wider variety of shoes made from recycled materials, but you will not have the added benefit of a fun shopping trip or the ability to try on 3 sizes in four different styles. Ah the choices in life... Worn Again is a company based out of the UK creating new shoes from recycled materials. There website states that they use 'pre and post consumer and corporate waste materials' and turn them into new shoes and bags. I believe that it is 100% recycled, not that it had another life before this one, but that another company/consumer would have thrown it away. Some of their sources of material are seat belts, scrap leather, tires, army surplus, and parachutes. Shop for products at www.wornagain.co.uk/ Lakai Limited Footwear has a variety of shoes for sale at www.lakai.com . Only one shoe design is made from recycled materials though, they call it the Recycled Series. These shoes are made from 50% reused material from previous shoe construction, and the other 50% is new material used for the soles of the shoes.
